Mr. Tony Wu, USA

Since 1995, Tony has combined his love of visual art with his interest in the marine world through underwater photography, and he has concentrated on using his photographs and writing to encourage others to appreciate and protect the beauty of the oceans. In recent years, Tony has devoted the majority of his time to the challenging disciplines of cetacean photography and documenting mass spawning aggregations of fish. Tony’s images have received international awards in Japan, Europe and the US, including Grand Prize in Japan’s largest marine photo contest, first place in the underwater category of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, and the award for “Best Book of the Year” at the 28th annual Antibes Festival of Marine Images in France for his book Silent Symphony. Ken is an award-winning photographer featured in diving magazines and websites. In October 2011 Ken created the Underwater Macro Photographers (UWMP) Facebook Group which quickly became popular with the underwater photography community and has more than 39,000 members from all over the world. The aim of the group is "sharing, learning and inspiring each other".

Born in Italy Marino has two passions in his life: flight and dive, air and water. For this reason he managed to become a professional airline pilot back in the 90s when he also started scuba diving. He brought his UW camera , a Sony DSCP1 with him underwater since dive n1 which took place in Sharm el Sheikh - Egypt . In 2012 he founded the Scubashooters network which rapidly managed to become one of the most comprehensive UW photography networks available at the moment. Scubashooters.net counts followers from all around the world and on all major social networks, including Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.
Mr. Tim Ho, Malaysia

In 2009 Tim purchased his 1st underwater compact camera, the game of upgrading was too expensive and beyond the means of an island based dive instructor, so Tim started to explore and develop his own comprehension of how his little camera worked. Now his methods and compact camera techniques are some of today's reference materials used and shared by underwater photography trainers when teaching about compact camera use, while some of his earlier works are still often used as benchmarks of what to strive to achieve when shooting with a compact camera.
His works have been published globally, displayed at underwater photography exhibitions internationally while he is sought after as a coach and speaker at dive shows and photography dive destinations in the region.

Born in Varese (Italy) in 1973, where Isabella still lives. A true passion for the ocean drove her to become a scuba instructor and manage her dive center, "Deep Avenue". UW photography is a form of communication, an universal visual language which meet my ambition to tell without a word the amazing beauty of nature. Her way to take underwater photography is her way to communicate using an universal visual language. She fancy the idea to shoot dynamic pictures in order to draw the observer inside the image. She loves it so much and she cannot consider anymore a picture as a static, bi-dimensional image. Mr.Jonn Benedict Lu, Singapore
Environmentalist

Jonn Benedict Lu is an Economics and Political Science graduate from Columbia University in New York City. A zealous weekend warrior, he is a rock climbing instructor, triathlete and multi-terrain adventure racer. Jonn is a Volunteer Leader of “I’m FINished with FINs”, the largest campaign ever organized for shark conservation, featuring over 700 of the World’s most engaging, influential and powerful celebrities and personalities. A Singaporean Chinese, he runs a campaign consultancy responsible for some of the largest conservation/environmental campaigns in the region. He currently serves as "Race Director" for the zero-waste "National Geographic Channel Earth Day Run" platform.
Mr.Scott Gutsy Tuason, Philippines

Scott was first handed his underwater camera at the age of 16 though he started diving before he even hit puberty. Decades later he’s still a passionate photographer, and the element of doing things just at the edge characterizes how he gets his images. From throwing himself into a feeding frenzy or dangling off a line in open water at night, Gutsy as he is known thrives on the thrills. His photography has won awards, notably the Palme D’or at Antibes festival for his co-authored book Anilao in 2000, but the real gratification lies in sharing the marvels of the ocean and inspiring others to help preserve it.

To the self-taught Indonesian photographer, respect for the environment she is in, as well as people and animals, is key to an evocative picture. Endlessly amased by both the intricate and simple ways in which nature works, she particularly enjoys photographing underwater tiny creatures and observing their behaviour. Her passion for her subjects gives her the ability to convey the emotion of these tiny creatures, setting her work apart from others. Her dedication and perseverence has resulted in many success internationally and was capped in 2014  when her 'Passing Giants' photo was announced as the winner of underwater species category from the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, sponsored by the Natural History Museum London and the BBC.
Mr. Jerome Kim, Korea

Born and raised in Korea, Jerome Kim has been based in the Philippines for the last 17 years. He considers Anilao his favorite dive spot in the whole Coral Triangle because of the great opportunities for macro photography. He is a professional architect who considers underwater photography as a simple hobby, but regardless he enjoys it immensely. His skills in design are a beneficial factor of his seemly perfect shots underwater. As a macro photography enthusiast, he enjoys taking photos of small critters. His works are regularly published in many dive magazines and newspapers.

Photographer

Born in 1965 in Beijing, Qing has been taking pictures since 1985. He began to dive in 2002 and later got into underwater photography in 2006. Photojournalist of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, Qing is also the producer of Dream Wavers, which represented China to compete in the Best Foreign Lan guage Film category in the 2008 Oscars. Since 2013, his work has been winning many international awards every year, including Our World Underwater.

Yuping was a typical office lady working in Beijing large law firm. In 2009, she did her first diving in Phuket Island while with her family vacation; she was so attracted by the magnificent and colorful underwater world, which marked the start of her diving career, changing her life from then on. In the subsequent two to three years, she has been diving in most of the oceans of Asia, America, and Europe. In year 2012, she start pick up her camera to shot underwater, she like the capture the beauty of marine creatures, she believe, with joining the ocean world as diver, she can be a protector to the ocean.

A marine biologist and accomplished underwater photographer, Yoshi Hirata began his passion for diving when he was researching the rich marine resources of Sipadan and Mabul back in 1993 as a marine consultant. During the course of his work, he expressed his love for the sea by featuring thousands of amazing photos of Mabul in various magazines.

Ben Sarinda was born in Maluku, Indonesia, and his journey in the diving profession happened by chance when he was given the opportunity to move from boatman to diver in 2002. Today, with more than 10,000 logged dives, Ben has earned a reputation amongst divers and underwater photography enthusiasts, especially those who frequent Lembeh, for his extensive experience and understanding of marine life behaviour. Through his years of working with accomplished underwater photographers, he has developed a hands-on understanding of critters and their characteristics, making him the guide of choice for many established names from all over the world.

Born and bred in the beautiful Malaysia, Irwin Ang is an avid nature lover, especially the colourful and mystical underwater world. Since picking up the diving sport in 2011, Irwin was promoted to a diving coach few years later. Today, he has attained the status of a world-class award-winning underwater photographer and has been shortlisted at many professional online underwater photography webpage. Yen first brought a camera underwater in 2012. From then on she was hooked on underwater photography. Her first love is macro muck diving and photography because she feels that it is like treasure hunting. In 2014, she entered a couple of underwater photography shootout competitions for the first time and managed to place first in a few categories. She feels blessed that through diving and underwater photography, she has met and made many wonderful friends sharing the same passion.

Hussain Rasheed, better known as Sendi, became a PADI Divemaster in 1986, an instructor in 1993 and Course Director in 2000. 2016 is his 30th year as a PADI member and he continues to teach regularly concentrating primarily on teaching PADI Professionals. Sendi is the Managing Director of diveOceanus Group. He also created and organised the Maldives Underwater cabinet meeting – an amazing event where the President of the Maldives went diving and they held an underwater cabinet Meeting. In recognition of his many efforts, Sendi has received both the tourism award and presidential award, each one a major acknowledgement, but together they show his dedication and contribution over many years.
       
Mr. Gideon Liew, Singapore

Gideon Liew is currently a Training Director/ Instructor Evaluator for GUE. He has been diving since 1984 and teaching diving full-time since 1994. His desire to dive beyond the limitation of 'recreational' boundaries also moved him to seek out further education in exploring new environments, especially on deep wrecks in the South China Sea. Gideon is now particularly interested in bringing diver education to new heights and is excited about introducing the philosophy of GUE diving to those who are interested. He remains actively diving and is concerned about the conservation of these environments.

As an avid scuba diver and ocean enthusiast, Amanda's goal is to help the general public embrace the beauty below the waves, in hopes that with awareness comes concern. Ipah Uid became an underwater photographer after she left the Airlines in early 2000. A mother of six kids and a full time PADI Instructor she also owns her Dive center called UrbanIsland Divers in Pulau perhentian Malaysia. Her passion of the sea started when she overcame her fear of water .. Wanting to learn more about photography she came up with her own sense of style pushing the limits to all compact camera and showing the best way to get amazing shots. Sharing knowledge about underwater photography is her main objective nowadays teaching new divers to appreciate life in the ocean to a whole new level.

Nu was born and grew up in Bangkok,Thailand. He studied architectural design and started his first dive in Phuket after he had graduated from university. Nu is an avid Thai diver who has a strong passion in the marvelous diving locations in Asia and around the world. He works full-time as a U/W videographer on many liveaboards that operate in best Asia’s dive destinations such as Komodo,Raja Ampat,Andaman sea,Palau ,etc. His underwater skills lead him to get awards in prominent world-class photo competitions. Now he works full-time on liveaboard in Indonesia. He is enjoyed with exploring the diverse reef in Indonesia. He loves to share his work to inspired people for saving our Ocean. Lilian Koh started diving in 2000 after a close encounter while snorkelling with manta rays. She continued to explore the wonders of the ocean after her certification and her passion for scuba diving deepened when she took up underwater photography. Lilian feels that the Ocean reveals its secrets, a little at a time, constantly luring you back, wanting more. She is fascinated by small critters, hence her love for macro photography. Tracey is British, based in Malaysia and Singapore. Although she has been diving for almost 20 years, she only picked up an underwater camera a few years ago with the objective of sharing the wonders of the ocean with non-divers and family. In a short time Tracey's work has been published online by the likes of NatGeo and the BBC as well as a plethora of international newspapers and magazines. Her favourite dive locations (so far) include South Africa, Raja Ampat, the Cocos Islands and the night dive at Anilao Pier.

Daniel Geary grew up in Florida and has fostered a love of the ocean ever since he was a few years old. He has been diving for nine years and photographing for the last four years. He currently lives in Dauin, Philippines and works at Atmosphere Resorts and Spa as their in-house marine biologist, underwater photographer, and PADI dive instructor. He is a frogfish expert who teaches an exclusive PADI Frogfish Specialist course and continually promotes environmentally-friendly dive and photography practices.

Dave Yiu grew up by the East coast beaches of developing Singapore in the early 80s and set out fishing with sea gypsies and was obsessed with it. As a child, his love for the sea was in built and they became a part of each other since. As a teenager he saw movies by Cousteau and Sea Hunt series that enticed him and grew in him the compulsion to venture into the depths. Since then, he had traveled all over Asia, built two resorts in Malaysia and operated them for over 2 decades, built a fleet day boat and liveaboards, set up dive centers with gas fill stations for tech and rec and explored most many of the South china sea wrecks at their very own back yard sites. Tech diving is their forte these days and we have also established themselves as a major equipment designer, manufacturer, distributor and service center for numerous brands from across the globe. The diving has and cannot stop... The sub exploration continues to further with time and the passion burns beyond control with every moment spent especially when silent and without bubbles...
Dr. Kevin U-Jyn Chan, Singapore

Dr. Kevin U-Jyn Chan is a medical practitioner registered in both Singapore and Australia. He is the Medical Director of Flinders EMA Pte Ltd. in Singapore and is also the Chief Medical Physician for the Aviation, Commercial Diving, Offshore and Maritime Industry. He is a member of various organizations including Association of Diving Contractors -USA, Designated Medical Examiner of Divers (UK, Australia, Malaysia, and Brunei), International Maritime Contractors Association (IMCA-UK). He currently heads Flinders Emergency Medical Assistance for emergency medical evacuation under FEMA Clinic & Surgery and is a member of the Association of Air Medical Services of the US. Prior to which, he was the Resident Medical Director of Flying Doctors Asia (an association with Executive Jets Asia). He has been devoting himself into Hyperbaric and Diving Medicine (Australia) since 1998. He is invited to give lectures and deliver speeches reagarding medical and diving knowledge in many countries such as Thailand, Indonesia.
       
Mr. Alex Santos, Philippines
Technical Diver


At age 9, Alex began using scuba and introduced technical diving to the Philippines in 1993. Alex is a certified DMT and has over years developed procedures for in-water recompression using oxygen. He has administered the same to several injured divers and has successfully reversed symptoms of DCS in all cases. In addition, Alex is a member of the Filipino Cave Divers, an active group of select individuals with diverse academic backgrounds and skills who apply their various expertise in the study, exploration, and preservation of underwater caves. He has trained recovery teams from other countries, and currently trains the Philippine Coast Guard’s Special Operations Group in search and recovery techniques from deep inside wrecks.
